Dennis's Story
Life
I am presently a civilian employee with the Tucson Police Department assigned to an undercover narcotics task force. I care for all the cool toys that we have to get the "bad guys". Body wires, covert audio and video installs, wire taps, all the fun stuff. Have about another five years to retirement. Still having too much fun to think about it much.
I've worked in various phases on engineering and manufacturing since I graduated from STCC. I worked for United Technologies for several years. That's how I got to Tucson. I also worked for a company which manufactured bio-medical and cryo-biology research equipment
I also took a six year course in civilian appreciation through the U.S. Navy. I really did enjoy it and received my start in electronics there. I served four years, five months and four days at sea aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Constellation. I was assigned to the Terrier surface-to-air missile batteries and for my last two years, I was the Petty Officer in charge of the port battery. A lot of responsibility for a 24 year old who was given the job for the care and maintenance of a missile system with more destructive power in its magazines than all the ordinance expended in World War II combined.

I have recently retired and have been rehired as a contractor still doing my old job for Tucson P.D. It's a part time gig, 20 hours a week, so I have time to spend with my wife, and play with my toys.

I have completely retired and am amazed that I love it so much. My most important decision of the day is what's for lunch! My days are full of hobbies, projects, and chores. I keep telling my wife that I'm going to have to get a job to rest up from retirement. I always liked target shooting and have recently purchased a rifle made at the Springfield Armory, 155 years ago. An 1864 Springfield, 58 caliber, muzzle loader. It's lost some accuracy over the years, but hey, who hasn't!!

On January 11, 2022, the love of my life passed away after fighting cancer for 14 years. The chemo had destroyed her immune system, and in the end, pneumonia set in and took her in a matter of days. She had just been diagnosed with cancer #6 and this time it was in her lymphatic system. The pneumonia may have been a blessing in disguise..
