Dennis's Story
Life
Born in Manhattan, carried into Queens about 1 week later to home my folks still live in.
Entered novitiate of the Studite Monks (Greek-Catholic), in Castel Gandolfo, Rome, Italy in 1968 (5 mos. after graduating. Professed vows as a monk in 1974 at Monastery of Our Savior, Steubenville, OH. Later founded new Monastery in Hebron, OH.
Now am pastor of a great parish in Milwaukee,WI.
Have always maintained friendships outside the sphere of my profession - healthy, I think.
Father passed away. Mom and all siblings are still growing strong.
I quit smoking after 36years & thought that would have been a major "accomplishment"...COLD TURKEY, and found it easy. Five months have past & still no cravings.
Mainly I'm a loner and have a small circle of friends from varied backgrounds. I like garage sales, & antiquing sprees - nothing big, just like to rescue undervalued religious items and spruce them up.
Health has been good except for arthritis and the fre4quent surprise that I am at this advanced age.

the way my parish consists of about 60% Catholics of Middle Eastern origin ( Lebanese, Syrian, Palestinian, Jordanian, Egyptian) - NO the Arabs are not all Moslem!
College
Had a very interesting college experience: Started at St. Clement's University in Rome, Italy, studying religion and languages: Bulgarian & Ukrainian. After that resided near Fordham U. in the Bronx and took a few courses here and there, also worked for the Theology Dept. briefly, and for DIAKONIA - a magazine studying Eastern Christianity. Also took courses with Maryknoll Seminary. Thus far had been trained for missionary/refugee work among Slavic Catholics, chiefly Ukrainians, Russians & Slovaks.
Volunteered to spend 1 year at our monastery in Steubenville, OH to work as a cook and counsellor at our order's boys' home. I loved it!
I ended up staying there for 15 years, and attending and graduating from University of Steubenville (Now Franciscan University). Also took additional courses at St. John Vianney Seminary - now defunct.
