Dennis's Story
I was born on Jan 4th, 1959 in Bloomington. My parents were Gene Matthews of Greencastle and Anna (McKinney) Matthews. My mom worked at IU, my dad's office was on the south side of the square, Peoples Tax And Bookeeping operated during the late 1960's until 1975. Dad died in 1977, Mom passed away in 1983. I went to Fairview Elementary, Dyer Jr High and Bloomington High School North. At School and after I would hang out with Marvin Frye, Daniel Wampler and Chuck Henry. After graduation in 1978 I attended IVY Tech, which was in the old Herald Telephone building. nd date set up by Daniel Wampler in 1993. We all met at Chi Chi's, we married on January 29, 1994, that is when I moved to Bedford, Indiana. Our son Travis Eugene Matthews was born on December 27, 1994. We love to take family vacations, Smoky Mountains, Nashville, Tenneesee and Florida. I began my book on the history of the Matthews family after watching Roots, from that I began a book on the history of Bloomington and Monroe County, Indiana. So far I have done five books on Monroe County. From 1992 to 2000 I served in the Indiana Army National Guards in Bloomington, serving with HHB-2-150FA, My MOS was 75B (Admin Specialist). My rank was E-4 (Specialist). Today we are looking forward to moving to Florida in 2010!
