Dennis's Story

After I graduated from NCCHS, I went to Illinois State University in Normal and got a BS in Music Education. I taught Music in East Moline, IL; San Antonio, TX; and Farina, IL before discovering that it wasn't for me. I then went to Olney Community College for a while to pick up extra coursework in English and Communication, then entered grad school at Southern (in Carbondale). Originally, I intended to get an MA and possibly a doctorate in English Literature and Composition, but these plans changed when the need for English teachers disappeared, and I ended up getting an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language / Applied Linguistics¿which was my ca...Expand for more
reer for more than 35 years. After I received my MA, I lived and worked in Texas, Oklahoma, California, and Oregon, and these jobs made it possible to travel quite a bit, both within the U.S. and internationally. I moved from Oregon to Arizona in 1990, where my sister Sue also lives. I'm no longer teaching, but I'm active in online projects, most involving ESL/EFL teaching. At one time, I was still involved in music through directing church choirs and writing and arranging music for them, but I'm not doing that any more, either. I'd welcome hearing from old friends. I haven't really been in touch with anyone from the Louisville area for quite some time.
