Dennis's Story
Life
After high school,I moved to southern nevada.Thats where I turned 18.When my brother Mike's son died,I came back to help my mom out.1969 till 1971 I worked building truck bodys.In april 1971 I was drafted into the Army and Sep.71 was sent to Vietnam.I got out of the service in 1973.Was married and stayed in Norwalk area for 6yrs,till I was divorced.Moved around for the next 10 or so years,mostly in southern california.Did live in Michigan for a year.I have been living in the city of Loma Linda for the last 9yrs and have been working at the Veterans Hospital here for 8yrs.I have 1 son who is 27.He's married in Tucson Az.I have 4 grand children,3girls 1boy,their ages are 12,9,6,4,Justin will be 7 christmas eve.Two of the girls, Cierra the oldest and Autum the youngest,with Justin live in Tucson.Sabrina lives in Fresno with her mother.Its great being a grandpa,especialy when I'm able to go see them or when they are passing thru town.
Now in 2007, my oldest Grand daughter Cierra turned 18 and lives outside of Tacoma, Washington for the past 2 years. My son DJ is now living outside of Fresno with 2 of his children Justin & Autumn. Justin turned 12 this year on the 24th and Autumn is 9 ...Expand for more
1/2. They were able to spend Christmas in my new place. I bought this place in the summer and what a great way to spend my first Christmas. This past June (6/8/08) my Grandaughter Cierra graduated and my son and the 3 grandkids from Fresno, CA drove up for the grad. Justin and Autumn stayed for the summer with their Mom. Cierra and Sabrina rode back with their dad and me. I enjoyed our rode trip even if it was all done in a week.
Military
i was drafted 4/13/71 out of las vegas by way of phoenix. i was at fort ord,ca untill the middle of august, learning to be a infantryman. I then had orders for vietnam. I got in country around the second week in sept.was with the 198th light infantry till they stood down.arrived in da nang and ended up in the hosiptal the second day i was in da nang sometime in late oct.a typhoon hit,we were evac to guam. from there i got to come back to the states. i spent a month in the hosiptal at the presidio in san francisco,ca. i was then sent to fort lewis,wa in dec and was with the 3rd cav. I was also part of the units burial detail.in july the unit was transfered to fort bliss tx. I was married there on sept 16, 1972, and got out of the Army in april of 1973.
