Dennis Siracusa:

CLASS OF 1965
Carpentersville, IL

Dennis's Story

It's 2008 and I just turned 61. I'm married with two married children. All of us live in the Charlotte, NC area. I run a small remodeling business and my son works with me. I think of my classmates from time to time and find it interesting that in 40+ years I have only run into Bob Lewis and Larry Schaaf in all of my travels. I remember Leonard Schoenherr and Ross Carlson were two of my friends that were Christians. I just thought I was one because I attended a Catholic Church. It took years for reality to set in. I knew life was complex and couldn't have just happened and after I left DCHS I looked in a lot of wrong places for answers. I spent time studying electrical engineering, and architecture and then served in the Air Force in a special group that monitored nuclear detonations. After that I finished my education in Colorado in Marketing. I worked for a few large corporations but in all of that time I was still trying to make sense out of life. A friend bought me a bible and after reading it for several months I found the meaning I had been looking for. I have been a Christian now since 197...Expand for more
9, have been a member of a Southern Baptist Church, several non-denominational churches, a Presbyerian church and am currently an elder in a Church of God Church and am a licensed Community Service Chaplain. I also served 11 years working as a volunteer and CEO of a Christian Pro-life group in Texas. A lot of time has passed since we graduated. I am very interested in how any of my classmates are doing. As our world becomes more dangerous and unsettled it is obvious that we are perched on the edge of catostrophic change. In the bible, Romans 1:20 tells us that God is visible in all of His creation and that none of us has an excuse for not believing in Him. I know that eternity is real. We aren't made of biologic matter that accidentally slid out of a primordial cesspool, but we instead were fashioned by the hand of God for a purpose. I also very honestly feel that time is growing shorter for all of us. We will all spend eternity somewhere... either in Heaven with the Lord or in hell eternally separated from Him. I am most importantly interested in how my classmates and teachers stand with the Lord.
