Dennis's Story
Dennis Lowell Welty of Indianapolis died Saturday, February 2, 2013. He was 64.
Born May 9, 1948, in Martinsville, he was a son of the late Dennis J. and Pansy Kathryn (Sipes) Welty.
Mr. Welty grew up as a farmer and raised hogs and cattle. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America and Science Club at Monrovia High School and later in life a member of the American Legion.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to â70, discharging as an E-5 Sergeant. He worked at Indianapolis Power and Light from 1970 to â73, was a master carpenter from â73 to 2008, and a courier from â08 to â10.
He was the head usher and alter worker at Church of Acts and also a head usher, alter worker, and elder at Crossfire Church.

d Indiana Hoosiers and Indiana Pacers basketball fan, and a proficient mushroom hunter.
Survivors include his wife of 40 1â2 years, Brenda Jean Welty of Speedway; a son, Jason Lowell Welty of Tallahassee, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Christina DeFelice Welty of Tallahassee; a grandson, Benjamin Lowell Welty of Tallahassee; an aunt, Evelyn Welty of Monrovia; brothers Robert Welty of Plainfield, Larry Welty of Benton, Ky., Darrell Welty of Mooresville, Jerry Welty of Mooresville, Rodney Welty of Indianapolis, and Ronnie Stevens of Williamsport; sisters Sandra Sims of Mooresville, Betsy Keith of Gillette, Wyo., and Jenny Harper of Crown Point; and 33 nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was a brother, William Welty of Coatesville, and a sister, Diana Wells of Indianapolis.
