Life We've been Californians since 1976 and are very happy here. I'm pretty much retired, still do a bit of free-lancing at home to support my vices. Our eldest daughter, Renee, lives 40 minutes away in Atascadero and has 3 kids, two boys and a girl. We generally see them about twice a month, as they are always on the go with activities and sports. Rachel is our youngest, and she is finally getting a foothold in the fashion industry in Los Angeles as an assistant designer for BluPrint Apparel, maker of the B.L.E.U. label for juniors. She is less than 3 hours away from us here in Nipomo (10 min. north of Santa Maria), which by the way is the answer to a trivia question of sorts. It was on Jeopardy, so I'm told, as "best weather in the continental U.S." Can't disagree, coastal 70's most of the year, with an occasional brief hot spell when the Santa Ana winds blow in from the desert. Doris and I have been together for 38 years, met on a blind date (Space Needle, thanks to Bob Grout) and as one wag put it, we must have both been blind.
