Dennis's Story
Life
I was born on Long Island, NY and raised a dependent in the U.S. Air Force traveling both state-side and world-wide. My fondest memories were attending Wurtsmith school on Clark AFB in the Philippines ('57-'61), Suitland HS in Suitland, MD ('62-'63) and graduating from Technical High School, Springfield, MA in 1965. After living and working in Madrid, Spain I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from '67-'70 as a computer operator. I was stationed in Nashville, TN (Sewart AFB '67-'68) and San Francisco, CA (Hamilton AFB '69-'70). After leaving the Air Force and working in San Francisco for a year, I moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1971. I first married in 1975 and have two sons and a daughter. I spent nearly 30 years in Phoenix working 25 years at various levels of computer operations, application programming, and systems development management for a large, multi-state bank (First Interstate/Wells Fargo) before leaving as a Vice President in Systems Development. After 25 years of marriage, with deep sadness I lost my beautiful wife to colon cancer. But, by the grace of God, I then found my childhood sweetheart (my first love from the summer of 1963) still living in Maryland where we had met when our Air Force dads were both stationed at Andrews AFB. We reunited and it was like 1963 all over again! We were married in Nov. 2000 and I relocated from Chandler, Arizona to Dunkirk, Maryland. At the end of 2004 my wife, a Postmaster, and I both retired.
Military
Having been born and raised in the US Air Force, I decided to enlist in May 1967. I went to Lackland AFB, San Antonio TX, for basic training and Sheppard AFB, Witchita Falls TX, for IT tech school. I was a 685xx Computer Operator. My first assignment was at Sewart AFB, Nashville TN, from Oct 1967 to June 1969. I then transferred to Hamilton AFB, San Francisco CA, to be stationed at the same base as my father. In Dec 1970 as a SSgt I was retired with a medical disability. I then moved to Phoenix, AZ where I used my military training and computer experience in a successful 25 year IT career with a large multi-state bank.
