Derek's Story
It's been a long, hard road these past few years. I finished up high school at LHS, went into the Marine Corps, traveled the country and the rest of the globe, and been to war. I've seen some many people come and go already. I'm now 26 years of age (ALREADY!) and I'm back in the military.
I've been married, seperated, divorced, and everything else in between. I've gone through my lazy spuurts, and my gung ho spurts, and now I'm just doing the best I can to get by in life and to do what's right. I've been in love, and I've fallen out of love, I've been healthy, and I've been sick.
I even smoked cigarrettes for a few years. That was about the dumbest thing I've ever done, especially being a runner, but now I'm healthy again and don't smoke anymore. I've gotte...Expand for more
n real serious about running again and do around 90 to 110 miles a week.
I went from the Marine Corps to the Army National Guard and I'm going to be running the Army Ten Miler in Washington, D.C. on October 4th for my unit later this year. I'm currently living down here in Newport, NC, but I think I might be relocating again some time soon. I'm still kind of in the nomad's state of mind where I just can't seem to get enough change of scenery for now. It'll pass eventually I think, but I'm just not ready to settle permenantly in one place just yet. If there's anything else you'd like to know about me... just ask.
I always wanted to be a representative of my country when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right.
