Derrick's Story
Life
Doing pretty well for myself. Married and living in a small town.
School
High School was a lot of fun, and a lot of work. I remember playing football (2.5 years), baseball (3 years) and wrestling (1 year) for the school. I was also in the jazz band for all four years, and in JROTC for junior and senior year. I think if I hadn't had so many extra-curricular activities, I may have gotten better grades... not that it's stopped me from doing anything that I have set out to do. I did alright, and would not want to go through it again.
College
I went to Morgan Stat...Expand for more
e for one semester, and then PGCC for a year. Then I went to UMCP but had to withdraw because I just couldn't afford it. I eventually returned to PGCC and took some more classes, but finally finished my degree in 2012 at UMUC. Now, I'm enrolled in classes again (UMUC), and am looking forward to getting my Masters in Management, Information Systems and Services in 2018.
Military
Served 20+ years in the MD Army National Guard. Did 8 years of active duty at the Pentagon, and was deployed to Iraq back in 2004-2005. Enjoyed it all, but happy that portion of my life is over.
