Diana's Story
Frank Davis and Susan called me this morning to find out whether my house flooded here in Baton Rouge. No, rain runoff rose in my yard, but would have needed to rise five more feet to flood my home. However, 15 - 20% of homes here did flood. Joel Lindsey's first floor flooded...He lives near the Comite River, which rose 4 ft. beyond it's record height and surprised many people... Sons have been helping him, especially our youngest, Huntley who is in the home repair business now. Huntley's first wife's home also took about 5 ft. of water... Family is helping her and me, as much as I can do... Both had flood insurance.

ars died last summer of Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was treated for 5 months, but the cancer came back and he was too weak to be treated anymore. Surviving has been the hardest thing I've ever done, but I'm making it...with friends, family, a good church community, medication, and a therapist. back to my previous life with new twists... and off the medication.
But Baton Rouge has really taken a hit this summer. The killings of Alton Sterling and then the three law enforcement officers, as someone said lately "in retribution"... Wow. That's shocking thing to say, but ....srictly speaking that's what happened.... Much work to do in this community of every kind.
Miss you all.
love, diana
