Diana's Story

Life is going by so quickly! I don't feel any older than I did in school but I have a baby who had a baby!! How can that possibly be? I had only one child but she is the love of my life. We moved to Roseville in 1990. My daughter has since returned to Chico where she works with children with autism. She is getting her teaching credential from CSUC and I am very proud of her. She recently made me a new grandmother which is the most wonderful experience there is. My husband and I recently purchased a second home in Chico, the house I grew up in, so that we could be closer to them! I retired from the Health Care profession after 30 years to spend more time with my family. I am very fortunate to have a wonderful husband. We travel extensively and he tolerates my truly pathologic obsession with photography! We also have a large family of rescued animals. The combination makes the Pet Sitter a very happy and rich person, in deed! During our "at-home" time, we are actively involved in the Arts, community affairs and the county and state Medical Societies. I am so thankful for the friends that I had during High School and College. If I'd known then what I know now about life and relationships, I would have hung on tight. I would not have allowed distance or time to destroy those ties. Having worked with cancer patients for 26 years, I've learned that life is too fragile and often too short. My goals, at this point, are to reconnect with old friends and to live my life to the fullest! School High School was one of the greatest times in my life! Although I've been very fortunate and have had more than my share of good times since, I constantly reflect upon those days. Thanks to Mr. Duarte and my many friends in the music department. "On To Berlin!" What an experience! Raking leaves and working in orchards to make our expenses. Singing in the Koln cathedral, the flying drum stick in the 1812 Overture! What fun!! To my friends in the Medical Career Club, I hope you made your dreams come true. I think about you all the time! Our fieldtrips to the "big" hospitals were so ins...Expand for more
piring. Funny how it didn't seem quite as exciting after 30 years of being employed there! Would I live High School all over again? In a heartbeat! It was great!! However, that not being possible, living the experience again but through the eyes of my child, was not a bad second. Thanks to all of you who made it such a priceless experience. I miss you! College College was great! I started out at Ricks College, now BYU Idaho, and continued on at Butte and CSUC. I'm sure it wasn't ALL fun and games but time has a way of erasing all the bad. All I can remember, now, are the great times we had at Sober Society in Rexburg (6th Dorm... Yea!!!), the snowdrifts that totally covered Kim Robertson's little 1969 (?) green bug - a wonderful mode of transportation!, our feet freezing to the sidewalk in -50 degree weather! Who could want for anything more?? Butte College, on the other hand, was especially great during the hot summer evening classes. Gary, where are you?? Workplace My desire to be a physician wasn't quite realized. I took a detour to start a family. The rest is history! I did, however, spend many years as a Clinical Manager of an Oncology Center which was very rewarding. I climbed the proverbial ladder and was given the big office with the huge window. Whee! Overworked and underpaid, however, I retired at age 45 to travel, devote my time family and to my passion of photography, addressing the right side of my brain which was neglected for so many years! Update: Time just keeps flying by. I buried my sweet father yesterday, May 10, 2014. My mother died in 2009. Please, appreciate your family and friends while you have them. Tell them, often, how much you love them. You never know when it will be the last time. To those of you who had my dad as a teacher at Chico High, CSUC, or Butte College, you made him a very happy man. He loved his students! As for me, I am returning to my roots. As we look toward retirement for my husband, we look forward to spending more time in Chico and watching our grandson grow up. I hope every one of my friends is having a beautiful life!!
