Diana's Story

Hi everyone! I have been living in Virginia Beach since my graduation from Virginia Tech in 1972. I have been teaching political science classes in the Virginia Beach School system since 1974(2 years at Kecoughtan HS before that.) Teaching high school and politics has been and still my passion...no plans for retirement anytime soon. For those of you who remember my Dad, you woil understand why I ended up in politics. I am active in Virginia and Virginia Beach politics, as well. I have been a single parent totwin girls for the past 28 years and love it. One of my twins is married and have 2 beautiful girls. The other twin lives with me and is a part time nurse and a full time restaurant manager. Virginia Beach is my home now having lived her since 1973. I love being near the Beach; I have to be near the water. My daughter and I have nice ranch style home in the center of Va Beach complete with a Tiki Bar. we love to entertain in the summertime, although we have been known to throw a "frostbite" party in winter. There are very few of my HHS classmates with whom I have maintained contact. I do see Diane Simpson occasionally, but I hate driving through that "hole in the water" especially during the tourist ...Expand for more
season. My passions include reading James Patterson novels and political journals, biking at the Beach and going to the movies...all kinds. Although I have not yet responded to the people in charge of the reunion, but I most certainly plan to attend. Hope to see lots of you there. I have yet to miss any of the reunions! Yea, me! It is so cool to catch up with what everyone has been up to. I may not remember everyone's name, but I always remember the faces. When you have to program every September to remember 120+ studnets names, it is difficult to recall names of 40 years ago...that old age thing, I suppose. I currently teach Politics to students in the International Baccalaureate program at my high school. It is amazing how driven these kids are. They keep me on my toes. I hve never been interested in going into administration. I belong in the classroom...especially if you remember me...I love to talk and be on stage. I have a great time in my profession and in my life. I hope this note finds each of you happy and enjoying this life. It is all too short to do otherwise. As someone once wrote, don't sweat the small stuff...and it's all small stuff. Again, hope to see many of you at the reunion. C U then.
