Diane's Story
After high school I went to West Valley and SJSU. Tried moving to Massachusetts at 21 when my parents moved. I'm a CA girl at heart and moved back 2 years later. Met my husband of 44 years and had two children who gave us 4 beautiful grandchildren, two girls from our daughter and a boy and girl from our son. If we had known grandchildren were so much fun, we would have skipped children!
I worked many years in the elementary school system working with special needs children. It was a very fulfilling job and I retired early in 2001. From there I helped my husband at his second career owning a handyman business. I did all the painting for clients. Mostly small jobs helping get houses on the market and rental repairs. etired for good a few years ago and have helped babysit my grandchildren since the oldest, who is almost 14, to current. The youngest is 18 months.
We spend a lot of time in Truckee at our vacation home. We've enjoyed our home there since 1996 when my husband first retired as an executive at ATT.
Unfortunately, I was recently widowed when my husband had a massive hemorrhage in his brain. No warning and very quick. Now my life is in turmoil, uncertain of my future. But I am fortunate to be living close to our children and grandchildren who are very protective of me. Our circle of friends are also very inclusive and close as well. I am lucky to have such a support system.
