he LA Department of Labor where I worked for the last 33 yrs. I just retired January 1, 2008. I sat at home for 6 mths and decided to go back to work with a comapny that got grant money to place people in Union Apprenticeship programs. I got laid off June 30 as Governor Jindal pulled the grant money. Now I am retired again until the next gig comes along. As of September 30th I got another job through Job1/Goodwill working at the Lockheed Martin Career Transition Center helping those people who are getting laid off to find other jobs or go back to school (they are laying off 1200 people over the next two years). My grant is only for 1 yr righ now but the center will be open for 2 yrs. I hope the economy get better so that one day I can retire for good.
