Diane's Story

Life Remember 1970? One year after Woodstock, a time in America where change, social progress, and personal freedom of expression were a great part of our culture. In those days, however, it was not as strident, and polarized. It's cliche, but times have certainly changed. From the discipline and structure of Catholic school, through the tumultuous years in public school, the evolution has been interesting. I did attend the 20th reunion, and enjoyed meeting with former classmates. Sadly, we lost our dear friend Marilynn May. We'll miss her wisdom, ethereal beauty, and bountiful spirit. I've never left Connecticut and enjoy this area very much. A dream is to move upstate into a more rural environment. Surprise! We have a flock of hens, 3 roosters, 3 Pilgrim geese and some ducks! After settling into a nursing career, I have worked in both acute medical/surgical, psychiatric, and now, am the Director of Clinical Services and Branch Manager for a proprietary Home Health Agency in Danbury. We are just like the "Visiting Nurses," but have a much more ambient camaraderie. Married with one adult daughter, who is a dazzling red-head (thanks to my part Irish ancestors) I also collect and sell antique porcelain and glass, and have written a book, the "Pictorial Guide To Silvered Mercury Glass," published by Collecto...Expand for more
r Books, 2006. The book was a lifetime goal, a culmination of years of acquisition, research, and love. I am very proud of my book! A movie buff, (fairly!) skilled photographer and entrepreneur, I organized "Antiques Away" day trippers, and enjoy antique shopping. The research is the most fun! In 2005, my husband and I traveled to Europe for the "Imperial Splendors" tour. Our journey took us to Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Munich, Salzburg, and my personal favorite, Innsbruck, Austria! The most memorable moment was scaling the Alps by tour bus. High above the clouds, in Tyrol, Bavaria, we disembarked to view the mountains. I had never seen such natural beauty! I am an unapologetic Republican, a "Fox News" girl, and support our endeavors in Iraq and other countries to fight the terrorist threats. Maybe it's the legacy left by my father - a Marine who served heroically in WWII, but I found that my political leanings have generally flowed from liberal to conservative. Life is just great at 55, and I must say, I could not have made it this far without the drama earlier in my 'life's career.' There is, evidently, a master plan. Although not strictly religious, I consider myself spiritual with a belief in God, Jesus, and life thereafter. How about your life? Love to hear from you! Best regards, Diane Gorman Lytwyn
