Diane's Story
I attended Washington High School from 1976 to 1977, after having transferred from the Inland empire and attending Moreno Valley High school from 1974 to 1976. I was excited to go to a school that was predominantly African-american and enjoyed and was proud to graduate from Washington High School in 1977. I attended UCLA and graduated with a BA in Psychology in 1983 and intended to go to nursing school. I changed my mind and worked in the Family Planning field and then worked at Aids Project Los Angeles on projects that impacted the communities of color in dealing with the HIV infection. ended Whittier College of Law as a night student and graduated in 1998 and became an attorney. I am now a practising criminal defense attorney in Orange County and I have been in practise for 17 years with the Orange County Public Defender's office.
I am now divorced three years and planning my next career after I leave the criminal defense field. It is an exciting time in my life. I like going to sporting events, live music and I am very active in organizations that give back to the community, example; Black Women Lawyers, 100 Black Women of Orange County and RT Fields Bar Associaion in Riverside CA.
