Diane's Story
Life
I'm married to Tom Carey, who went to Hilliard High. We have been married for 45 yrs. We have 7 children and 16 grandchildren. I have had several jobs, parttime and fullltime, until '96. Tom had nonhodgekins lymphoma in '96 and then again in '98. He is now in remission for 12 yrs. He retired at age 50 due to health. I retired from my homemaker job in January '03. We went to Florida then and have since become snowbirds and go down in the fall. We live in a 55+ active community called Tanglewood in Sebring. Right down 27, an hour and a half south of Orlando. As of Sept 2010, Tom has gotten Lymphoma again. He is in his second round of chemo. So, we will not be going to Fl. this fall. If all goes well and he goes into remission again, we may go to Fl. after the 1st of next year. Tom is in remission again, but we are not going back to Fl yet. With 7 grandchildren under the age of 4, I am doing a lot of babysitting.
