Diane's Story
Life
I live locally in Tennessee. After I left Catholic High then Oak Ridge High, I worked in an automotive factory for about four years then jumped into Motherhood with both feet. I stayed home most of the time till both my children were in school. I have a son and a daughter. I sewed, gardened, canned, raised pigs, chickens, cats, dogs etc, etc, etc. We even had a calf and pony. It was a twenty-four hour job that I loved. Since I was raised a city girl this was quit a change. When both of my children were in school I went back to work.
At forty-two I learned how to ride a motorcycle. I had a bike for several years and really enjoyed riding. At first I looked like that little guy on ÂLaugh-In in the yellow raincoat that kept falling over on the tricycle. Every time I stopped I forget to do something and fell over. I had a Kawasaki 454 LTD. It was burgundy with chrome everywhere. A Harley would have been nice but thatÂs out of my budget
I also was involved in dancing for a few years. I liked Ballroom, Two-stepping, Line dancing, Shag, Bop, Square dancing, East Coast Swing and West Coast Swing. One spring at an Alabama Bopper Event in Panama City I had the opportunity to Para-sail. It was such an exhilarating, yet peacefu...Expand for more
l experience.
I like to read. My favorite fiction is Koontz, DeMille, Crichton, King, Sheldon and similar authors. I also have interests in psychology, astrology, tarot, the metaphysical and related subjects.
I had two hip replacement surgeries this year (2005). I feel better now and can do more than I have in the last five years. Now, I need to get back to the health club and whip this old body back into shape again. ItÂs gotten pretty bad since I wasnÂt able to do much except work and lift a fork for a few years before my surgery. I did finally quit smoking about three years ago. Thank goodness for that. I was getting bronchitis every three months. So far I havenÂt even had a cold since IÂve quit, knock on wood. I also took a few night credit courses at Pellissippi to start my degree. I havenÂt quit decided what I want to be when I grow up but IÂm getting prepared.
My grandmother died four months before she would turn 100 years old. IÂm 55 so I figure that I have another 40 to 45 years to go. There are so many places I want to see, people I want to meet and things that I want to learn and do. According to Gail SheehyÂs book ÂNew Passages IÂm starting my second adult life. IÂm very excited about this.
