Diane's Story
Life
I am in my 21st year with the Cass County Sheriff's Department. My 2 kids and I still live in our house on Leech Lake about 6 miles north of Walker. My son Joe is 23 years old and has graduated from Bemidji State University, with his 4 year degree in criminal justice - keeping with the family tradition, he has joined Charlie and I as full time deputy sheriff with Cass County working the City of Cass Lake. His grandpa - my dad would be so very proud of him also following in his foot steps.
My daughter Katie is 19 and is a sophomore at Bemidji State University -has been accepted into the new 4 year BSN-RN degree in nursing, she too wanted to be a criminal justice major until mom pursuaded her to change to being a trauma nurse instead. She plans on broadening her horizons this coming summer by getting an apartment in Bemidji with another friend and becoming self sufficient.

my kids grown and on their own, although we all still live together at the present time - now it is time for me to start living my life. I am presently with a wonderful man - Charlie.We have known each other for the last 7 years and finally got together about 18 months ago. We have so much in commom and life is good, it is so nice having some one care about you again. We have gone on many fishing/camping trips to Canada, North Dakota, Isabella, White Face Reservoir, George Washington State Park and his land by Blackduck. We love to hunt together and I shot my first deer ever this year - a nice buck. He is also a Deputy Sheriff so we even have that in common. My kids call me the run-away mom as I am usually staying at his house on my off days.
College
I went to Brainerd Vo-Tech school after high school for a one year in the Clerical program. I do continuing education every year to maintain my MN POST Deputy License, my BCA Intoxilyzer 5000 certification and for my position as I am one of the 4 team leader supervisors.
