Diane's Story
Life
Well, It has been quite a while since I have visited Class Mates. There have been many changes in my life.
Mike is now retired and we are returning to our home on Logan Martin Lake. Just need to sell the Montgomery house...soon I hope!!
I am still actively teaching aerobic fitness and sculpting classes 3 to 4 days a week at Metro Fitness in Montgomery, though I have to admit...I have reduced the intensity level, sigh. Will soon have to find teaching sites elsewhere.
We were blessed with our first grandchild November 18, 1997 Connor Benton Rhodes is a feisty, gorgeous, 11yo boy who lives life to the fullest...every minute of his life! Wears his MiMi out!! Whew..but I love it! His teachers refer to him as brilliant...which I already knew!
On January 14, 2002, our daughter Michelle gave birth to micro premature twin girls...Blaire Marie and Gwyneth Nicole at 24 weeks gestation. Our precious Gwyneth...who weighed 1 lb 1 oz.at birth, became an Angel on March 16, 2002 and lives with all her loving family in the arms of God today. Blaire Marie, her sister, is perfect...though tiny still, is beautiful and feisty with no obvous residual effects from weighing only 1 lb 7 oz at her birth...She is truly our precious miracle girl!!! She was 7 this January.
On December 26th 2003...we lost our precious son Brad at age 30. There were many demons in his life that we could not fig...Expand for more
ht and, ultimately, they destroyed him. Nonetheless...he is so loved and remembered by his sisters and his Mom and Dad. Not a day goes by that we don't speak of him fondly and our memories are filled with deep love.
Losing our son and our granddaughter has been horribly devasting to us and we carry the lasting effects of pain and heartache that only those who have had similar experiences can relate to.
God blessed us and our daughter Michelle and her husband Jim with our third grandchild on St. Patrick's day 2004...one day after the anniversary of Gwyneth's death. Our big boy Michael Dale is a handsome, wonderful boy who smiles and laughs all the time! We are convinced that he carries all the wonderful traits of his sister Gwyneth and his uncle Brad to share with us and to help ease our heartache. It works!!!
Our younger daughter Adrianne is single...but has now found a wonderful guy! She is in the field of design...loves scuba diving and living life!! He shares her interests...and she is spending all his money renovating his entire house!
I treasure all my memories of Woodlawn High School and the dear friends that I made there. I miss living in Birmingham...but, I am not so far away. I would truly love hearing from anyone and everyone from the class or '65..as well as all those Minnie Holman folks from 1954 on...
Much love and hugs to all!!!
