Diane's Story

Life My Pets Snickers is named after a Snicker Candy Bar.....because when my students memorize certain Ojibwe language passages they receive a candy bar for their efforts! So, in essence, the students...bless their little hearts have named my lazy little Shitzu! My Job I teach students from grades 7 to 12 Native American Studies. This includes Native American Art, Native American History 1 & 2 Storytelling and Myths and Legends, Ojibwe Language 1 and 2, and Exploratory NAS 7th and 8th Grades. I also do summer ...Expand for more
college programs for teachers and special outreach classes for Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota. I was invited to do my Birchbark Art work at the Smithsonian Institute 2 years ago in the Washington Mall. ( Even got to be on the today show!) My Native American art is not like a second job but, has given me such pleasure because through this media I have met so many interesting and warm people. I truly love teaching and because it is in the community I was raised in ...it is ever so much more meaningful.
