Diane's Story
Whoa! Where to start? Well, I did a tour of 3 colleges in 5 years, got my Bachelor's (1996, USM), tried grad school until I burnt out, then got married in New Orleans in 1999 and immediately moved to D.C. Stayed there until 2002. Hubby, cat, dog and I (4 months preggo) moved to Tampa in Dec. 2002. Our daughter, Alexandra, was born in June 2003, and life's been a whirlwind ever since.
While in D.C., I worked as a copy editor for the Journal of Applied Physiology and for CNN. After moving to Tampa, I tried my hand at going back to school for a degree in Theatre Design and Construction, but I got REAL tired of 20-somethings telling me that Romeo and Juliet was SOOOOO...Expand for more
much more important than my 2 year-old. You can probably figure out how that went.
Then I got involved with working at the Renaissance Faires in Florida, started sewing and crafting full-time, and had my own shop at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival in 2008. It was a learning experience, and I'm currently in the mode of making up my mind about doing it again. I may, if I can find the time to do all the sewing I will need to do to have enough stock!
In the meantime, so I can keep my options open, I've applied for certification as an English teacher, and now I'm playing the waiting game.
Just wish I could make up my bloody mind what I want to do when I grow up!
