Diane Coggeshall:

CLASS OF 1968
Norwalk, CA

Diane's Story

After graduation I attended Whittier College with two academic scholarships and majored in Sociology and Anthropology. I then enrolled in the Masters in Anthropology program at Cal State University Long Beach, intending to become a college professor. In the middle of that I was offered a job as a Social Worker by United Way, which I accepted, being sick and tired of going to school. During that stint while living in Seal Beach, I met my husband, Arnold Coggeshall, who was finishing up at Cal State Long Beach. I was 26 and he was 28. A little over a year later we married, and made our home in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. He began a career in finance in Westwood, and I was working as an account executive for an employment agency on Wilshire Blvd. While there, I was chosen as Wilshire Chamber of Commerce Queen, and we had a lot of fun going to banquets and balls and other events with some of the city of Los Angeles dignitaries and movers and shakers. Eventually we moved to Belmont Heights in Long Beach and had two boys, Arnold III (Pete) and Ian. Both guys have their bachelor's degrees. "Pete" is an artist who wo...Expand for more
rks in the entertainment industry on movies, TV shows, commercials, video games, etc. His latest project was the new "Predator" movie. Ian is a sales executive who does very well in his career. We like to say he could sell ice cubes to the Eskimos. I'm now an empty nester and retired and basically do what I want to do. This includes going to the gym religiously, seeing friends, reading, gardening, throwing authentic English tea parties, and decorating my home In Redondo Beach, which I love. Two of my very best and dearest friends, Janice English and Diane Chinery, are still in my life, after more than 50 years. Some of you may know them. I still have a couple of things left on my bucket list, in spite of being blessed in my life. My dearest wish is to be a grandma, but my two boys, 32 and 34, haven't produced yet, The other wish I have is to go to the United Kingdom and particularly Scotland so I can see where my grandparents were born. We also want to go to Coggeshall, England to see where my husband's ancestors are from. The first Coggeshall in America, a John Coggeshall, was the first governor of Rhode Island..
