Diane's Story

You all might remember me as the "Southern fried Queen" in the 1960 Christmas English scene or as the "holy roller" Mrs. Krebs from Inherit the Wind, the Fall of 1960. I married David Shapley Palm Sunday 1965, we moved to Wichita Kansas, arriving on Easter. I continued my drama by directing plays for teens. We had three children, two daughters, and one son. After Derek was born found that I had Lupus, two years later, David left us, and on his final divorce decree, I receive a miracle healing, eight years later, David got saved and we got married, been married now 26 years. We are now ordained ministers working among jails and prisons for the last 14 years. I have written five books, working on my sixth now. I have taught in Christian school off and on for 21 years. For two years we home-schooled our three grandchildren. I like to go to Tea Parties and town hall meetings. David and I are conservative Christians, who support the Republican understanding. Does that make sense? I miss San Diego, I still have my sister Bonnie and her family there, for visits. Maybe you remember my eyes and how they took turns wandering. They still do, but now I have 20/20 in both eyes! You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for being a part of my *teen years....In my Senior Year, I spent the year in my Honors English Class. I loved writing, just as my Mom did. When I was a small child, Dorothy O. Peet wrote for Redbook, and Ladies Home Journal. Before she died in 2006, she had written her novel. When I ...Expand for more
was eleven, I began to write outlines of my novel. Well so far I have not wrote it, I have lived it! I have a cousin, Charles Knief, who has written and published his novel, Diamond Head, yes our family is full of writers. Both my daughters write and my Granddaughter too. Expressing yourself through writing can be very healthy for you as well as the reader...What I have written are two trilogies, and they are all on audio books. I am also the reader. My work in drama has been a help in producing these books. My first is titled "BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW" Book One is titled I CHOSE LIFE. This book is about my miracle healing from Lupus. Book Two is titled SET FREE TO PUT ON THE MIND OF CHRIST. It is about my healing from a major mental illness. Book Three is titled by the cover title, "BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW" by Diane Shapley And it is about how our family was torn apart during the time of my trial with Lupus. How David divorced me when I was dying from Lupus. How my three children and I kept pressing on for 8 years, following our Lord Jesus. How God brought David back to the Lord and then back to us. David and I were married again on August19,1984. This next August 19, 2011, we will be married 27 years! All our children are grown with ministries of their own. For coming from a broken home, they all are stable, beautiful young people who love each other and their restored home. Yes, the David Shapley family have blessed lives! We live each day, expecting an adventure!
