Diane's Story

Life I live in a small (pop. 1,000) Mississippi community near my 2 sons and their wives and 5 granchildren. I have a small farm with horses and many other animals. I work in the microbiology dept. at the local hospital in town. I could never go back and live in a big city again, just call me country all the way. The peace and quiet, the fresh air, and the closeness of a small community make me happy. I keep up with several of the friends I graduated with and hope to someday be able to visit with them. I plan on retireing in about 3 years, maybe work part time somewhere doing something I love, maybe with animals. My favorite time of day is sitting near the small lake in the pasture and watching the sun set across the water. This is my little piece of God's green earth. I have been so very blessed in this life, I look forward to retirement so I can spend more time with my animals, doing the things I love to do. I have five grandchildren, 4 grandsons and one grand daughter. They all live within one mile of me, and all attended the same school...Expand for more
s. The schools are all on the same campus, elementary, middle and high school. When the school bus rolls past my house in the morning, I know that all 5 of my grandkids are on it. Thats one of the nice things about living in a small community, closeness. When you go to town, you NEVER meet a stranger. People just seem friendlier in the south. I have acres of cotton growing right across the road from my house, this was strange to see when I first moved here. Now I am used to seeing the John Deers and other farming equiptment rolling up and down the back roads, and still marvel at all the cotton. I have had a black angus bull in my front yard grazing, guess the grass was tastier there than in his pasture. I have had a copper head snake crawl up my front door, and stopped in the middle of the road to let a cotton mouth crawl across to the other side. I am sure I have them in my pond in the pasture, but the horses are good for keeping the snakes at bay. They also help with the weed control. Would love to hear from other Bentley classmates.
