Diane's Story
Life
My maiden name is Diane Williams and I lived with my grandparents, Louis D. and Dorothy Williams at 710 S. Tancahua St. I attended Menger Elementary, Baker Jr. High, and Ray High (by transer). I loved sports, (and still do!) and loved my church family - First Presbyterian Church (and still do!)
I remember the transition from Baker J.H. was a little easier because "Coach Hook" came from Baker J. H. to become coach at Ray the same year! My favorite teachers were Mrs. Cagle, English (she had a very dry sense of humor) and Mrs. Scoggins, Music (to whom I credit my love for music and my ability to "sight-read" music to this day!)
The only family who attended Ray with me was Priscilla and Bill Bell, my cousins. Pris was a year ahead of me (she graduated with Farrah Faucet(?) and Bill was a year behind me.
After graduating, I attended Del Mar for two years, meeting my future husband, Robert G. Clarkson. After two years, I transferred to Southwest Texas State in San Marcos, then came home in 1969. I married "Bobby", found a job in marketing, and was transferred to Houston all in 1969...Expand for more
.
In 1971 and 1973 I had my two sons, Robert Louis Clarkson and Timothy Gaines Clarkson, respectively. In 1981, divorced, and later met in 1983 my current husband, Cary Shane Riley and married him December 1, 1984. On June 25, 1986, had our baby girl, Carrie Diane Riley, and when she was no more than three weeks old, came to Corpus for the 20th W B Ray High School Reunion. As I recall, Barbara Holloway had just had a baby too and when awards (?) were given, she beat me out of the award for the youngest child by one week - her baby was a week younger! What a day that was!!! To see friends I had not seen in almost twenty years and the changes - Wow!!
We, Shane and I, have six children all together, and four grandchildren, with another on the way! Shane has been in construction all his adult life, and I have been in the medical field, insurance and construction arenas. I am now semi-retired, enjoying taking care of my grandchildren, writing Christian poetry, gardening, and especially praising God for all the blessings He has bestowed upon me. May God bless each and every one of you.
