Dianne's Story
I live in Independence, still (again), still, and am married to Gary Sullivan, the answer to my prayers. I've attended, of course, our beloved St. Mary's; William Jewell (as their token Catholic); UMKC; and Hamilton Business College. I've worked in law since 1989 and have just retired from Morrow Willnauer Church where I had worked for the last 16 years. It was really a great place to finish my career. So Gary and I are now both retired and on to new adventures.
You know I love, as I have always, children, elderly people, sewing, and animals, but scrapbooking, and gardening are my newest driving interests. I volunteer with the Alzheimer's Association, Gary volunteers with the Boy Scouts, and we together are involved in Beagle and Basset Hound Rescue of the Heartland.. We have just adopted a laboratory beagle and a discarded hunting hound. Having decided that they are home and no one else will ever hurt them again, they have acclimated and are, as a team, a total hoot!
As far as music goes I love Mandy Patinkin, Five For Fighting, Jimmy Buffet, Billy Joel, Bob Reeder, most anything salsa and reggae (great to do housework by!). My favorite books include The Harry Potter Series, nearly anything Morgan Llywelyn wrote, but especially The Lion of Ireland and nearly anything Emily Bronte wrote, but especially Wuthering Heigh...Expand for more
ts. Movies and plays are still my great passion - I especially love old movies and musicals - including anything Specer Tracy, anything Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy. TV shows? Gary and I can't wait for Dancing with the Stars, Blue Bloods and we both hated it that The Big Bang ended, but are grateful for reruns.
My absolute favorite quotes are:"It's never too late to live happily ever after""
and "Just because someone's on a different road, it doesn't mean they are lost.".
"It's never too late to live happily ever after" has proven true for me. Gary, my incredible husband, and I have only been married since 2007. I will tell you that he was the answer to my prayers..
Both he and I raised our children alone. My children, Amy and Peter, were 6 and 4 when their father and I divorced. Gary's children, James and Dustin, were 10 and 7 when Gary and their mother divorced. Our adult children were our attendants at our amazing wedding which took place at St. Mary's. Our beautiful blended family is truly a joy! We have five extraordinarily beautiful granddaughters and with the addition of Peter and Jolene's brand new baby, born January 31st, at 34 weeks, but doing spectacularly well, two extraordinarily handsome grandsons! Our hearts could not be more full.😊 You may remember, I wanted a house full of little people!
