Dianne's Story
After graduating from PHHS, I attended DVC and then UC Berkeley. I married a 1963 graduate of PHHS and we bought our first house in Montclair (Oakland hills). I worked for 10 years in the insurance industry before taking a break to have my son. We then moved to the peninsula, where my husband and I bought a business. I continued to be a stay-at-home mom, doing the business bookkeeping from home, until my first marriage ended in divorce. I moved to San Jose and returned to the workforce as a legal assistant at a law firm downtown (SJ). I remarried in 2004, and gained a step-son. Our two boys are now grown and on their own.
When my son was young, I was very active in the PTA. I also volunteered teaching art classes at his school for a number of years. I was a Cub Scout Den Leade...Expand for more
r and Troop Committee Chairman for Boy Scouts. I took a number of scout leader training courses over the years, and after my divorce, I took a Boy Scout advanced leadership training course (Woodbage) which is where I met my current husband, Mike.
I am no longer working, and am enjoying my leisure days. I love watching and listening to the birds that visit my feeder and watching the squirrels play in the yard. My siblings gave me the job of family historian after our parents passed, and I have been having a wonderful time scanning old family photos and working on our family tree. Having time to read has been nice too, and I have been doing a lot of that lately . . .
ItâÂÂs hard for me to believe that I am almost 60 . . . how can that be? Remember what 60 used to seem like?
