Diego Asencio:

CLASS OF 1949
Newark, NJ

Diego's Story

As I approach my 84th birthday, my days at East Side High come to mind. I retired from the Department of State's Foreign Service in 1986 after serving mostly in Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. Those of you interested in the details of my existence since 1949 can get my memoirs entitled "The Joys and Perils of Serving Abroad" online or directly from Barnes and Noble and Amazon. Also available are books such as "...Expand for more
Our Man is Inside" and "DIplomats and Terrorists" about my adventures when I was kidnapped in Bogota, Colombia when serving as Chief of Mission there. Right now I am enjoying my retirement in West Palm Beach, Florida with my wife Nancy. Four of my five children have survived, and I am actually a great grandfather. The class of 1949 is everpresent in my memory and if a reunion is ever organized, please let me know.
