Dixie's Story
Spent 27 years in higher ed. as a bio prof and science coordinator in the U.S. and abroad. Retired several years ago. Am active with the North American Butterfly Association and OSU Whale Watch program plus babysit for my grandchildren a couple days a week during the school year.
Remet Rick Wilcox (yes, that is Dorla's twin brother)at our 45th SEHS reunion. We reminisced about Roosevelt Jr. Hi and SEHS. After several months of email and phone conversations we started seeing each other. Summer of 2008 we decided to sell our respective homes and buy one together in Eugene. Rick is bumming around with me doing field biology stuff and I follow him on photography outings when we are not entertaining grandchildren or hanging out at the coast. Went to Peru in Feb. 2009 where we spent time at Machu Picchu and the north coast pyramids, Rick shot over 600 photos and we saw a wonderful variety of butterflies. Spent time in the Caribbean March 2010. Did some kayaking around St. Thomas and also visited a butterfly preserve. Enjoyed The Turks and Puerto Rico.

June 2010: Rick and I decided we should stop living in sin (hee, hee). So, Update. We were married (May 15, 2010) at the Eugene Friends (Quaker) Meeting. 14 of the 1962 SEHS class were there. Great fun!
November 2010: We returned from a month in Europe last month (kind of a late honeymoon plus time for me to touch base with old friends). Had great weather, met up with lots of old friends in Belgium and France plus hit 3 other favorite countries. Loved the Cinque Terre area of Italy, always love Belgium. Walked our feet off, had fabulous food, and bathed in history and art, as one must do there. Rick took beaucoup photos and the weather cooperated the entire trip except for the last half day when we were drenched, but laughing in the rain. After a couple hours we finally decided to get a cab back to our hotel and dry out. Is good to be home; but we are ready to go back again soon, as we had a wonderful time bumming around Europe by train. The Eurostar is an awsome way to travel -- fast, clean and comfortable. Wish AMTRAK first class was as nice.
