a is 23 My son Anthony is 18. Both of them have their own Facebook page. I am a lifelong learner. I attended Jackson College of Ministries in 1978-1979 in the subject of music. Then I studied to received nationally recognized Child Development Associates (CDA)from the Council of Early Childhood in both the preschool (1993) and family childcare (2001) settings. I received a one year certificate in early childhood in 1999 from Walter State Community College. I graduated with an associate degree in early childhood in 2008 from Mitchell Community College. I am a very simple person and God has given me a very deep passion for serving children and families. Especially, early childhood for ages birth to eight years old. I love music. Especially helping children to express themselves freely with music by singing, making up their own words, tunes, and rhythms. I create homemade instruments and buy purchased instruments from various cultures and have them available for the children in their learning environment. Two of my favroite rhythm instruments are an ocean drum and a rain stick! Furthermore, I provide many types of music and a variety of props such as scarves for dancing, so children can just having fun and be creative! Music seems to be one of the areas that educators and family child care providers seem to struggle and hesitate. I mentor them and give training in music, science, and other areas, too! I love assisting providers in setting up an open-ended environment that says, "Yes" to learning! This can be done in all centers such as science, math, reading, blocks, home living, drama, the outdoors and more! Most of all, there is a great joy in teaching and modeling the importance of interactions with the children and families. Because without the interactions, it doesn't matter if you have the best environment. You need both!".
