Don's Story

Belmont was a great school everyone so friendly . I came out from Edmonton in 73 in my black 62 rambler.loved exploring the island living at my sisters on Glen lake. With so much freedom it was difficult making it to all my classes so I became nicely acquainted with the woman who filled out the late slips. she always made me feel so welcome with her warm friendly smile . Art class was enjoyable no mater my state off mind, can't remember the teachers name but he had a great sense of humor ,remember laughing a lot in his class. My one assignment in that class was a mushroom the size of a basketball with a hobbit lounging under it smoking a pipe, great incense burner ! Home Ed. Great class to feed my voracious appetite .the one other class I liked was business studies comfortable desks. I do remember that the teacher must have gone through a bad divorce remember him segueing into how he felt communication was very important that if his ex and him had drank a bottle of wine and sat down and talk things through...Expand for more
that their marriage may have survived . Funny the things you remember. Belmont student parking lot was a social hub talk about networking you could find anyone or anything any time of the day . Unfortunately I was having too much fun and when I decided to carry out my own independent biology study's on the effects of growth hormones on young cannabis seedlings , well the biology teacher and vice principal bulled the plug on my stay at Belmont . It was fun but I realized after many labour intensive jobs many that didn't pay very well that I could have spent my time at Belmont to better profit my future . Eventually in my twenties I took a more seriousness view of education went to camosun and got my LTCA certificate and began a career in health care. Through out the years I haven't forgotten the most important lessons , take your time with people be friendly and listen, not everyone takes the same path but every one is on their own personal journey .Kindness encouragement and a smile go a long way .
