Don's Story

Hi all, I left R/C and went to UCSB for 4 years. Got a BA in Political Science. On graduating I spent most of a year back in China Lake working on the golf course on the NWC. 1979 to 1984 I worked retail management and sales for Pacific Stereo and Computerland in LA, Atlanta and then back to SF. 1985 I began teaching for Ann Cierly at West High in Bakersfield. History and debate coach. (I know, who woulda thunk I would end up a debate coach.) 1991 I was recruited by Sid Richison to work at Arroyo Grande H.S. near San Luis Obispo and coached debate there. 1996 I was recruited to come to the Bay Area and coach debate at James Logan H.S. where I work now. are of success and a long list of former students who are now wonderful adults. My father passed away in 2018 just a month short of 90. Ann Cierly passed away at 90 and was a major influence in my life. You can email me here or (testing the system, my home email is donheinsohn at yahoo) Carla Grober, now Colburn used to teach with me at Logan in Union City, but she retired as we were heading into a strike in the spring of 2019. I'm teaching online in an online version of my high school so I'll be online into the future. At this point I live at our summer home on Trinity Lake and teach on high speed sat internet. The deer, Mr. Bear, and the bluejays are my friends now. I was happily married in 2008 which became unhappy by 2015 and I am now happily separated since 2017. Who thought life could be so great at 65?
