Don's Story
Don is from San Diego, California. Don's schools include Notre Dame High School. Don later attended Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI. After MU joined Phillips Petroleum Co & played with their Phillips 66ers AAU Basketball Team for 2 years. Took a USA Good Will Government Tour playing each countries Top Basketball Teams in Greece, Rome, Syria, Lebanon, Holy Land, Egypt. etc then took another trip for basketball tournaments in Hawaii, Taipei & Hong Kong. Captained the winning 1963 Pan Am Games in Sao Paulo, Brazil and won a Gold Medal. Captained the World Games in Rio de Janeiro also in 1963. Returned to the USA where the NBA offered me a contract I couldn't refuse and played for 12 y...Expand for more
ears with Baltimore Bullets, Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, San Diego Rockets, Seattle SuperSonics and Kansas City Kings. Met a Flight Attendant named Maureen on a flight in 1967 and married her in 1969. Have 3 boys, 5 grand kids and another baby girl expected this July. We have lived in San Diego, CA since 1969 & just love it here. Also played in 2 NBA All-Star Games. Upon retirement in 1975 ran a Racquetball Co that provided a Formica Panel on the walls of the courts. In 1978 co-founded Whispering Winds Catholic Camp & Conference Center on 161 acres in the forested mountains near Julian, CA, a 1 hour drive from San Diego. Now married 48 years, loving my family and life is good!
