Don Mucheck:  

Upon completion of high school I attended West Liberty State for two years earning an Associate's Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. I enlisted in the Naval Reserves in 1957 at the age of 17 and later enlisted in the regular Navy in 1961. I was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer in 1977 and retired in 1986 as a Lieutenant. My duty assignments included duty aboard USS BEGOR, USS INCHON, and USS CANOPUS, CTF-65 Staff, and tours in Washington, DC; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Great Lakes, Illinois; Newport, Rhode Island; Charleston, South Carolina; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; San Diego, California; Guam, Mariana Islands; Republic of Vietnam; and Suez Canal. While stationed in the U.S. Navy Ceremorial Guard in Washington, DC I had the opportunity to participate in President John F. Kennedy's Inauguration in a Joint Honor Guard and was in charge of an Honor Guard Cordon at President Kennedy's Inaugural Ball. Additionally, I was in charge of the Ceremonial Rifle Squad for funeral details at Arlington National Cemetery and participated at the funeral services of the members of the U.S. Navy Band who were killed in a plane crash enroute overseas. It was during my tour of duty in Hawaii that I met my wife and we were married in 1964. We had a son who was born in 1966 and who is currently a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in Corpus Christi, TX. My wi...Expand for more
