Don's Story

Life Mainly involved in Counseling. All three kids grown and have three grand children (two girls & one boy). Enjoying life. My son is back from Iraq and attending UTSA. For those of you who knew my brother Terry, he passed away a few years ago. My sister Cheryl is living in Tyler Texas. My Mom passed away in December of 07. Actually learned to play golf, like to hike the Rockies when I can (above 10,000 ft), one of the few Baptist preachers on earth that can dance, (cha, cha, merengue, cumbia, salsa, swing, two step, and waltz ) and life continues to be an adventure. Guess your only as old as you FEEL. School Courtney Adkins, my DECA teacher inspired me the most. Colonel Hall and Mrs. McDonald also greatly influenced me. If I could do it all over again...would have concentrated more on the books than football. Coach Brown used to say "football is life"...IT WASN"T, not even close. My favorite school memories were pranks I pulled on a few of my friends...probably not a good idea to review those. But ONE in particular, Dan won't mind..."Don, I mean Dan" as coach Fruge would say, Easy to get left guards mixed up with right guards, I guess. Donohue, remember the construction lights on top of your house, in your front yard, in your garbage can, in your backyard, etc..Alot of great memories and friends, Nick Constanzo, Tommy Menchaca, Barry Feriend, Steve Dalros, Ted Williams, Roy Chavera, Ben, Emilio, Arthur, Morrow, Mike Murphy, Jerry Braden,...Expand for more
Gary Sprague, Rusty, and all my old team mates...and of course Cindy, Camille, Susan, Linda, Anita, and others. Wonderful friends! My life would have been much emptier without your presence. Thanks for being who you were and who you are. I appreciate you all...more than you can know. Blessings and Peace to all of you where ever you are. College Attended San Antonio College working on an Associates Degree in Mid-Management, graduated from Howard Payne University, and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Lots of papers, lots of study...just loved Greek and Hebrew (right!) Completed my Cerfication in Biblical Counseling in January 2009 at SWBTS. I am also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. I really enjoy helping people work through their problems. Workplace Most of my life spent as a pastor, pastoral counselor, either bi-vocational or full-time. Worked in sales when bi-vocational. Was a VP with an insurance company in the late seventies and early eighties. Learned that nobody likes a salesman. (ha ha)At this point I do alot counseling and enjoy helping people deal with the complex issues of just living everyday. Military Didn't do any military duty...lottery number wasn't drawn. I honor those of my friends who did, some who gave their lives. But my son was a Combat Medic in the 10th Mountain Division. He has been awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Medic's Combat Badge for Heroism in Afghanistan.
