Don's Story
Well, once I Graduated from LHS in 1993 I started out at SPC there in Levelland. About 1.5 years into it I received a phone call from the Feedlot in Whiteface wanting me to work Cattle and ride pens for them, so I dropped everything I was doing and going for to go and play Cowboy. I regreted that move for a long time because Cowboying does not pay the bills. From there I bounced around in the Oil Fields for a few years running all types of Construction Equipment and even working on the Rigs. Another Mistake. 6, but it was still misarable. Once I got out I became an Owner Operator driving Eighteen Wheelers form Coast to Coast and from Border to Border. I would drive on average 800 miles each and every day for up to three weeks at a time and then go home for about two to three days and do it all over again. I actually enjoyed that. I was able to go and see places that I never would have seen otherwise. But now I have my absolute dream job and my retirement job as a Firefighter for the City of Fort Worth. I go to work for 24 hrs and then I have 48 hrs off. Work once every three days and only 10 days per month, it dosen't get any better. I Love My Job.
