I've been living in Virginia Beach since 1975. I completed my Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education, Master of Music in Conducting, and Bachelor of Music Education degrees at Shenandoah University (Winchester, VA) and my Master of Education in Administration degree at Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA). I taught vocal music at Holland Elementary from 1975-86, was Choral Director at Princess Anne Junior High from 1986-1989, and Choral Director at Salem High School from 1989-2007. From 2004-2019, I served as Chair of the Vocal Music Strand and Music Department Lead Teacher at the Visual and Performing Arts Academy at Salem HS, I retired from VBCPS in the spring of 2019 and was Director of Choral Activities at Regent University from 2017-2023. I am Artistic Director of the Virginia Beach Chorale (a 100+ voice community chorus).. I'm also the Director of Music at Heritage United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach. The choirs at Regent sang on "The 700 Club" tv show; my choirs at Salem High School and the VPA Academy performed at state, regional, and national music education conferences. You can find videos of Academy choir performances on YouTube - just search for "Vox Harmonia". They sang in Carnegie Hall & Lincoln Center in New York, Westminster Cathedral in London, England, Yorkminster in York, England, the Bath Abbey in Bath, England, and the Cardiff Cathedral in Cardiff, Wales, as well as at the White House, the National Cathedral, and National Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC. My top Academy choir performed for President Barack Obama, sang with R&B producer Timbaland and sang in concert with the Virginia Symphony.
