Angela's Story
I retired from teaching English at GSHS in 2000, and took over being the LS Wood administrator (college financial aid) from Nick Massaro, Sr. in 2004.
Angie (Anderson, 1970) and I have been married since 1972, and we have two daughters, Amanda and Jessica, both married. We have a new first granddaughter by Jessica and Steve, who live in south Denver.
We live in our 4th Glenwood house...having remodeled my parents' home in 2002. We would enjoy visiting with our classmates and others we might know from the years ahead or behind us, including those who left before or during high school.
I never did finish the big novel, and my drums are packed away. It took me five years and three schools to get a four-year degree, and then more to get a master's, although Angie got her music degree in four at Boulder. College Spanish gave me an incentive to travel and a new way to make friends, even though I never got past two years in HS and couldn't learn the hat dance. After years ...Expand for more
of embarrassment because you could ski and I couldn't, I took never-ever lessons from a 19-year-old Rifle kid and learned to ski blues at age 54.
I do charity work for literacy and education. I have former Carbondale students somewhere who are 51 years old. My hair did most of its receding in high school, but it's grayer and sparser now.
Our kids? Glad you asked. Jessica, 29, is an HR generalist for Vail Resorts, and Steve has a new job as an oil/gas commercial underwriter for Travelers. Amanda, 27, is finishing a year as a lawyer in Justice Rice's CO supreme court office, and will then work for Sidley Austin in SF, where she went to law school. This August, her husband, Jonathan, will finish a year in Beijing, where he's researching the role of Chinese journalists in politics. He'll finish his Ph.D. when he's back home in SF with Amanda.
With email and websites, maybe more of us can reconnect now than would have been possible before. I hope to hear from you. -dhp
