Dona's Story
Dona's schools include New Westminster Secondary School. Graduated from SFU with Bachelor of Education. Further education courses through and UVic, specializing in Special Education and Primary course focus. Taught in Prince George, New Westminster, Fraser Valley, Chilliwack and most recently Harrison Hotsprings. Just retired after 30+ years of and loved my career. I am still involved with mentoring and just visiting schools that invite me to share art projects, story telling and related themes. I was married for 25 years to a great guy, but divorced about 10 years ago. It was hard but after five years, we resolved issues. We both have other partners in our lives and thankfully we are great friends now and have family times together. We have three awesome children..now 34, 32 and 27..two strong handsome young men and one beautiful daughter...all involved with their own careers and families. n a popular fishing area on Vancouver Island. It's a great experience renovating. decorating, promoting and learning how to market, develop websites etc. My favorite part has been meeting people from all parts of Canada and the world. Our lodge is also near the beginning of the West Coast Trail. We've met young people venturing out to the challenges of the trail. Also some who have completed the trail, and have lots of adventures to share. The lodge is seasonal, so for six months of the year, we have a home in Chilliwack, close to my children and I do get to teach on call or mentor and visit so though I miss teaching, I get to fill that void in a a very comfortable way. I often reflect on school memories, both elementary and high school. NWSS is a big school and I remember a lot of wonderful people that were friends and aquaintences. I did go to the big reunion and reunited with a lot of us and enjoyed reconnecting. Bonnie Moy (Kretzchmar) and I are going to the Oct. 19/13 reunion and we are looking forward to reconnecting with friends again.
