Donald's Story
The flag is gone. I just found out Heald Pool is gone.
I came to Crescent Heights in Grade 3, spending that year at Riverside School with Mrs. Miller.
In the winter, the city bus would often get stuck making the right turn at the top of Altawana Drive. In those days we were sometimes asked to do a bit of pushing if we wanted to get home. In better weather there were many paths leading from my house to the Riverside area.
Some memories:
- Going down Lucier's Hill before stairs. Anyone know where ...Expand for more
that name came from?
- And before stairs were on that hill, the challenge was to start further and further up the hill and be able to stop before the tracks. I saw a few guys wreck their front wheels.
- The little swimming pool at the bottom of that hill. The coldest water known. No pumps or filters, we had to sit on the edge and mix bleach into the water every so often. We lived!
- Watched one of the big gas bag detonations at Suffield from the roof of Crescent Heights School
