Donald's Story

Life I live in Baghdad. I Keep people alive. with a lot of death around here, my job is to provide a "safe house" for up to 156 people. I have a staff of 80 people who work with me. but I'm the guy who is responsible. Work with an arm of the government that I can't talk about. We also gather intelligence, which I also can't talk about. Quite a change from my misspent youth. I have 3 children who are all grown. My first wife [Sharon Hutchison] died of cancer, My second wife also died of cancer. My third wife and I are divorced [for 25 years not] I have a place in the Sierras that I'm looking forward to going back to if I make it out of here alive, I get bored sometimes at night when the blackhawks are flying overhead and I can't sleep, so I get on the internet, and this popped up, I thought what the hell, it's something to do. I'll attach a photo if I can figure out how to do it. In the intervienning years since high school, I've been in Jail, went to college [it only took 25 years of night school] got three degrees, and traveled the world. I've lived in China, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, PNG, and now Iraq. I can understand many languages, but only speak a few. All this while being a carpenter. The funny thing is that I think of myself as a carpenter, thats where I come from, I've done many other things, but I'm just a carpenter, despite my degrees. My problem is that I get bored to easy and am dumb enough to do something about it. Most of my traveling has been to work in the construction field. From digging ditches, to supervising a 1,000 men, from filling sand bags t o running a construction company [not mine] the industry has been good to me. I retired to the mountains, only to have my nature get the better of me, I got bored, a...Expand for more
job came by in Iraq and I figured that I might have one more adventure left in me. And what an adventure it has been, sand fleas, 130 degree days, keeping people alive, getting rockets and mortars lobbed at you, parking next a 60 ton tank to eat lunch. Having to carry a weapon at all times, 130 degree days, living a small space, 18 inch rats, 10 inch camel spiders, 130 degree days, wearing the uniform of the Iraqi High Tribunal Police, having pure evil [Sadam] stare me in the face, I seen the rooms he used to "interogate" people, strewn with body parts, including childrens parts. 130 degree parts, I hope some day to not have nightmares about what I've seen. I realize that probebly nobody will ever read this, and I'm writing to my self. but to the one person who does read this, and who knew me in my youth, things didn't work out the way I thought they would, particularly when I was behind bars. It's a strange world with different twists and turns, my only friend from High School died last night [Bob Croyle] I'll miss him most of all, I haven't seen him for a long while, but I always felt close to him, I would go to see him and it was like I just left him yesterday instead of year intervals. I tired of this rant I'll post a photo of me the only one I have digital. Back from Iraq, going to Afganistan, South Africa the Philippines or Thailand but first a motorcyle trip across the country I have served for so long. I any body reads this the US Army has assigned me the rank of O5--not bad for a rocky start in life. I'm now living in the Philippines in a small village south of Manila [Cabuyao] it's raining as only a tropical monsoon can, the people are great and the living is easy. I may return as a close friend is having a hard time, maby I can help
