Donald's Story
Life
After an interlude of several years teaching history at my alma mater, the University of Chicago, along with writing on film for the Chicago Reader, I migrated to the Washington, DC, area, where I served for 13 years as director of Media Arts Centers and Radio Projects for Media Arts Program at the National Endowment for the Arts. Then I moved to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration at the Commerce Department, first as a program analyst in the Public Telecommunications Facilities Program, then as one of the senior policy analysts in the Technology Opportunities Prog...Expand for more
ram. I am now senior technical writer for the Commerce Department's Office of Spectrum Management. Along the way, I continued to write about film and media theory, and lately have developed an interest in cooking. For the past year, I have spent many of my off hours as a chef's assistant at L'Academie de Cuisine. My wife Sylvia has been a professor at the University of Maryland Dance Department for 31 years (she's finally going to retire in 2008), and our daughter Nicola is a rising artist and designer in NYC (with a cool new line of designer t-shirts for toddlers under the label Droopy Knickers).
