Donald's Story
I retired for health reasons the end of 2005. I had a lot of fun working for WTTW and WFMT-FM at Sears Tower. I was the transmitter Engineer-in-Charge and spent most of my time fixing TV, DTV and FM transmitters and antennas. I had a total of 6 transmitters and 6 antennas. When something broke, it was usually at 2 o'clock in the morning.
I recently moved to Bloomington, IL where most of my family is located. I was the last Geigner to leave Lombard. I am currently living in an apartment in a senior citizen's retirement complex. I have my French horn here and try to get some decent sounds out of it. I joined the local ham radio clu...Expand for more
b here and am working to get some other equipment on the air besides my handheld. I have my cat Tabasco here, presently stalking a spider.
I have found that being retired is a busy job. I put a garden in here behind the building and got a few tomatoes and peppers and sweet basil. I'll make it bigger next year and maybe grow some sweet corn. I live right next to the west end of the Bloomington Airport which puts me about as far east as you can get without being in the middle of a runway.
I have to get some new photos of me posted on this site. I think the one of me on the roof of Sears is the last one I have of me. More later
