Donald's Story
Graduated June 56. Joined the US Army May 22, 1959. Attended Radar Maintenance School, Ft Monmouth, NJ graduating April 1960. Assigned to Ft. Huahcuca, AZ June 12, 1960 and taught Radar Maintenance for the next 28 months.
After re-enlistment for 6 years was assigned to &th Army Signal maintenance Battalion, 32nd Air Defense Brigade November 1962. Given a special assignment to the American Embassy in Vienna, Austria with duty station in Saltzburg, Austria teaching Austrian Air Force personnel the repair and maintenance of Radar's provided to the Austrian Government by the US Government under the Military Assistance Program (MAP).
Reassigned to Ft. Huachuca, AZ for further instructior assignments September 1965. Applied for Warrant Officer duties August 1966 and was promoted to WO-1 Janualy 1967. Assignment to Vietnam with the 554th Light Equipment Maintenance Company (Electronics) June 1967. Further assigned/attached to the US Marine 3rd Marine Division, 12th marine Artillery Regiment at Dong Ha combat base, 8 miles South of North Vietnam. Assignment was for 270 days assisting the Marines in the maintenance of the US Army Radar's that the Marines "Borrowed" on temporary basis.

Reassigned as the Cpontracting Officers Representative for a Military Assistanence Program in the Republic of the Philippines, Quezon City (Manila). Responsible for the oversight of the construction of two Troposcatter Radio Site Locations. One on Southern Luzon over looking Tay Gitai Volcano and the other sight in the cintral mountain of Cebu Island, Fefruary 1969.
Reassigned to Vietnam with duty in the Central Highlands, 146 signal company, Plieku. Supply office operations officer, June 1971 - 72.
Reassigned to 24 Air Defense Group, 1st Air defense Region, Coventry, RI July 1972. Managed the Signal Radar Repair Maintenance Repair Shop for North Eastern US Air Defense sector for NORAD.
Reassigned to Fort Huachuca, AZ for my final assignment of 6 1/2 years. Retired May 31, 1979, to Benson, Az. March 1982 I was hired by the US Army Civil Service at Fort Huachuca. Retired totally from the government September 30, 1993 with 31 1/2 years of great duties.
Have a wonderful wife (Yolanda) who is a native born Benson, AZ girl and raised thre great girls. Girls educated at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ with Education degrees and associated masters degrees.
We travel when needed or for vacations.
