Donald's Story
I graduated from the UofW in 1967. Upon graduation from graduate school at Thunderbird I was hired by First National City Bank (Citibank) and assigned to their NYC headquarters. I next moved to the Military Banking Division of American Express and became the Manager of their 23rd Infantry (Americal) Division branch in Chu Lai during the Vietnam War. of my working life was spent in the U.S. textile industry based in NYC where I earned a degree in Textile Science from the Fashion Institute of Technology. My major focus was marketing fiber, yarn and fabrics to international clients. I worked for Celanese Corporation, Hoechst AG, United Merchants and Manufacturers and Springs Industries. I had a wonderful career. In retirement Rita and I spend six months in NYC, five months in Netarts, Oregon and the balance of the time on the island of St. Maarten in the Caribbean. I pass the time studying Medieval History and Classical Music, but set aside three days a week to workout in a gym.
