Donald's Story

Life Where to start, After I graduated I went to basic traing at Fort Ord CA. I wasn't sure if this was the life for me, however I retired in 1993 so I guess it must have been close. I married my first wife in 1974 and we had two girls. Both of my daughters married brothers and had three children of thier own, thats six grandchilderen. There are three girls and three boys. My oldest daughter is a music teacher and her husband started as a banker and now owns a small telecommunications franchise. My youngest daughter is an RN and her husband is a sergant on the police SWAT team. I remarried in 1992 to my second wife who had two sons one is living in Arizona and the other is still with us. He is 18 and attending school for an AA in automotive technolagies. I work for ITT Corperation, Systems Division, we are the maintenance providers for Fort Bragg, NC. signed to Fort Bragg as a soldier and it just seemed the place to retire. I was posted in Italy and Germany for my overseas assignments. I started in logistics, served with the 82nd from 1974 to 1979 and 1985 to 1987. I was with the Spectial Forces Traing Command from 1979 to 1983, the 509th PIR in Italy from 1983 to 1985 and the 32 Air Defence Commad from 1989 to 1992. I have been a logistician, medic, infantryman, and a mechanic, I guess mechanic stuck. I can't remmember ever sitting down to say this much before, even in a resume. Maybe I'll think of somthing else later I have had a wonderful life full of goodtimes and some not so very good times, but I have not failed to benift from every success and set back. I have met people and been places I never thought I would go, I continue to learn new things every day and look forward to my next challange, I don't remember getting old but this too shall pass. Most of my mentors have died, and I find myself in the company of young men wanting to gain experience and make a difference with thier lives. This keeps me encouraged to continue looking forward to tomorrow.
