Donald's Story
Life
My Spouse
Lori moved into the Syracuse area, she was given my name by a mutual friend as a contact for playing power (collegiate-level) volleyball; I met with her and introduced her to some of the local volleyball addicts; friendship grew with dating, followed by a separation, and then the realization that we had many similar interests and "were met for each other," eventually getting married. We continued to play power volleyball for several years (until the kids came along), and have had to taper back on the sports participation but continue to have a close relationship.
My Kids
Our two boys are great kids; both do well in school, are interested in sports and music, and are compassionate young adults, willing to help out with community projects and volunteer work.
My Job
I am a real estate appraiser, holding 2 professional degrees (MAI or Member, Appraisal Institute, and ARA or Accredited Rural Appraiser with the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers) plus membership in 8 additional professional organizations. I have been active in state, regional and national real estate appraisal committees and officers, including chairing 2 National committees.
My firm, Pomeroy A...Expand for more
ppraisal Associates, has been in existence since 1930; currently I have one business partner and a staff of 15. We provide appraisal services for a wide variety of clients including several Federal, State and local governments. Our expertise includes all types of commercial, industrial, agricultural, residential, recreational and special purpose property types. Recent appraisal projects include the Carrier Dome, 320-mile and 160-mile long pipeline easement corridors, several large tracts of Adirondack timberland (166,000 Ac., 105,000 Ac., 145,000 Ac. and 46,000 Ac.), writing Appraisal Guidelines for the State which are to be used by the 1000+ assessors in New York, about 2600 parcels in the City of Salamanca for the lease from the Seneca Nation of Indians, several Indian Land Claims ranging from Martha's Vineyard to Wisconsin, and the 10 million sq.ft Buick City car manufacturing plant in Michigan. I provide a lot of court testimony as an expert witness for appraisals that we have prepared, including testifying in Federal Court for the Oneida Indian Land Claim that was heard and upheld by the US Supreme Court. Needless to say, I love my job and the variety of projects that we get involved with.
